The April awayday, for the Los Amigos Golf Society monthly competition, saw us heading off to Saurines de La Torre Golf, Roldan. Most got there easily, whilst others took the pretty route and arrived …eventually!
On a rather chilly morning, we booked into what must be the biggest pro shop of all the courses in Spain and having prior knowledge that the Restaurant and Bar were closed, managed to grab a coffee at the Spar supermarket nearby.

The format was an Individual Stableford with 22 players taking part in a two-leg competition, with the second leg taking place, again at Saurines, in October.
Designed to be similar to that of the desert courses in Las Vegas and Arizona, with rolling fairways and sandy dunes, the course was in good condition and the greens were excellent.
As with our visit to Lorca in March, where also there were no bar facilities, we decided to head back to our home course at Camposol to announce the results.
Not too much emphasis on these results as this was the first leg. Hopefully on our return in October the bar will be open.
Leading the way for this leg:
Sandy Bayne with 34 points

Nearest the Pin winners were: –
Hole 2 – 11.5m Sandy Bayne
Hole 6 – No winner
Hole 10 – 4.7m John Girvan
Hole 14 – 13.3m Harry Pearson
Our next away day will be May 1st at Condado del Alhama.
