Our Captain’s Day Competition was held on Tuesday 4th June at Hacienda del Alamo with an excellent turnout and the format for this event was a Two Ball Better Ball.

For most, if not all, the day started with a bacon sandwich at the Spaniard Inn washed down with a relaxing cup of coffee. Next it was down to the putting green for some last minute practise.

The fairways were in good condition, but some of us will blame the strong winds for our wayward drives; they certainly did not help. However, the greens, having been recently subjected to hollow tinning, quite naturally became rather challenging when attempting to reach a good score.

Following the competition, there was an excellent BBQ at the Spaniard Inn with our wives and partners in attendance after which the prizes were presented.

Results:
In presenting the prizes, Captain Les Jales thanked everybody for their attendance.
In first place with 42 points, were Harry Pearson and Dave Lynch.

Nearest the Pin Prizes:
Hole 5 at 2.88 metres – Harry Pearson.
Hole 8 at 4.3 metres – Mike Joseph
Hole 12 at 5.08 metres – Neil MacFarlane
Hole 15 at 9.33 metres – Paul Davis.

We would like to take this opportunity of thanking Jo Bailey of the Spaniard Inn and her staff for the excellent pre-game sandwiches and the afternoon BBQ.
