December Competition
Our last monthly competition of 2019 and we are at Camposol with 40 players entered in our Annual Memorial Trophy Competition.

Monday 2nd December started with overcast skies and threatening rain, but that did not deter all entrants from turning up to play. The format for the day was a Two Ball Better Ball competition with the winning duo from 2018 all psyched up to retain the trophy. After a cup of coffee and a sausage sandwich in The Club House we were suitably prepared for a good game of golf.

All was going well for the first five or six groups with the weather not too big a factor. However, darkening skies and the imminent arrival of heavy rain made it necessary to shorten the competition to just nine holes. Some groups thought the decision rather premature, but their opinions soon changed.
A prearranged Tapas meal of pork magra and/or lentijas scheduled for 4pm had to be brought forward. In his role as restaurant manager, Stuart Fearn rose to the challenge. Following a couple of thirst-quenching drinks, the meal arrived and was eagerly devoured – totally excellent.
Our Presentation Evening in the restaurant of the Camposol Golf Club began with a carvery meal, once again of excellent quality. Our sincere and grateful thanks go to the staff for all they have done for Los Amigos Golf Society throughout the year. Our thanks also go to Gordon Nielson, Captain designate, for organising all the presentation evenings.
Captain Les Jales presented the prizes.
