Monday 7th January was our first ‘awayday’ for 2019. It was also a new course to the majority of our members. The weather was a little bit on the cool side, but the sun was out and it promised to be a good day out. Campoamor is a very scenic course with lots of trees. It also has lots of what are believed to be parakeets making lots of noise in the trees, but we did not allow them to distract us from having an enjoyable game.

Many people will already know that, apart from the Par 3’s, virtually all the fairways are dog legged and not what could be termed as flat; rather the opposite. Consequently, some of our members found it to be a difficult course to play, whilst others thoroughly enjoyed it.

The format for the day was an Individual Stableford and the first tee time was a gentlemanly 11.56am. Unfortunately, due to illness, two of our members had to withdraw from the competition, but that still left us with 30 players taking part. Post competition, the 19th hole is also a very enjoyable place to relax with some outstanding views over the Mar Menor.
The competition winners were announced at our Presentation Evening which took place on Wednesday 9th January.
