Los Amigos Golf Society ventured a little further afield for their March outing to Font del Llop, an outstanding course situated approximately 5kms east of Aspe on the CV 847. To those residents of Elche it could be considered as one of their local courses. Most of us found our way there without incident, but one or two people made a somewhat time-consuming diversion by taking the A30 from Murcia to Albacete. However, all’s well that ends well.
Font del Llop has some rather tricky undulating fairways to negotiate, whereby effective course management was the order of the day. Some fairways of 400 metres and more are in view for the first 200 metres, then disappear completely. Moreover, some of the gradients are so severe that your ball is more prone to travelling across the fairway rather than along it. Watch out for the lake on the 18th! Four and a half hours is the stipulated time for completing your round and it is to the credit of our Society members that we all maintained a satisfactory speed of play.
