Aguilon Awayday

We gathered on a chilly morning waiting with baited breath for the coach to take us on our much anticipated day of wonderful golf:
And we waited

And we waited

I could hear and feel the voices

“Where’s the coach?”

“How long have we got?”

“Are you sure you’ve booked it?”

“I need a wee!”

Eventually the coach turned up about 25 mins late to a chorus of muted cheers and we climbed aboard not realising that all of us were about to participate on a Magical Mystery Tour arriving belatedly at Aguilón. The mutiny was soon nullified with coffee and bacon rolls, as well as a few brandies on arrival. Easily pleased us lot!

Score cards and buggy keys handed out and with the usual pre-game excitement we teed off in rather pleasant weather for the time of year. The format was a modified Team Pinehurst, Stableford; 2 to score on the front 9 and 3 to score on the back 9.
The course, as usual, was in super condition. The greens having been prepared a few days earlier for a major local tournament, were like lightning. If you finished on the green above the hole, it was almost impossible to finish within ‘gimme’ range
