Preparations for the 2023/24 season are well underway for Mazarrón Football Club. The club is releasing details of players signed or renewing on a regular basis and some of the names mentioned give hope that this is going to be a good season.

A new Manager is in place, a name that is popular with Los Amigos supporters and a name etched in the history of Mazarrón Football Club, Juan Andreo. Juan (or Sam as he is better known to us!!) gave tremendous service as a player and has now obtained his coaching badges and will undoubtedly use his vast knowledge of the local football scene to the benefit of the Club.

A number of pre-season friendlies were arranged during August and September against teams of varying levels. At the moment the last friendly arranged is at home to CD Algar on 3rd September when it is hoped that the final squad will be introduced to the supporters, although there may be another game/games as the season proper does not begin until 17th September.

Amongst the players already announced are old favourite Diego Gomez who came up through the junior ranks before being snapped up by the Elche youth squad and then returning to Mazarrón and also our rivals Bala Azul. Then Kevin Wolosso who made a great impression in his previous appearances with the Club and Pedro Ruiz (Zurdo) are also returning.

Other players confirmed at the time of going to press are midfielders Chera, Jose Cascales and Salva Ballesta, defenders David Ardil and Jose Oliver, goalkeeper Pablo Lopez, full back Jonis Lopez, our iron man Julian Taborda and winger Harold Ortiz.

27 year old Taborda was interviewed recently by Murcia magazine Huracan Sports and among the things he said were:- “I am one of five Colombians in Mazarrón and we want to be promoted to the Tercera Division because we are aware we can go far this season. Mazarrón is a coastal town with many supporters of the king of sports and they always support us every season especially a large colony of British”.

Mazarrón are at home for the first game of the season against SFC Minerva on Sunday 17th September. Kick off time has not yet been announced but full details will be given on our Facebook page when available. The first away game is at Atletico Santa Cruz on 24th September followed by another home game, a local derby, against newly promoted EMF Fuente Alamo.
Season tickets are now on sale at a cost of €50 for the 17 home games but Los Amigos members can benefit from a reduction in price. You must be a member of Los Amigos and order your season tickets at one of our weekly meetings. Los Amigos Memberships run from August each year and last for twelve months. Membership has again been kept at €20 and members and a partner will be entitled to discount on coach travel to away games and to all Los Amigos social activities. The only stipulation is that members only are allowed to attend the monthly business meetings. Membership forms are available by email to our Membership Secretary, Russ McMillan at 8254981@gmail.com or at our weekly meetings.

Mazarrón FC won the award of best Supporters in the Preferente Autonomica for last season at the Gala Presentations in Murcia recently. Executive members Paul Cassidy and Russ McMillan were at the awards along with representatives of the Redboys to collect the award.

Mazarrón’s home games are normally played on Sundays with varying kick off times. Kick off times are not normally known until the Tuesday before the day of the game. Full details of all games, dates and kick off times are advertised in the local media, on our own Los Amigos de Mazarron FC Facebook page, fb.me/mazarron2016, and will be shown on posters at various points throughout Camposol and Mazarrón.

Forthcoming fixtures are September and early October:
