After their steady start to the season, Mazarrón continued their unbeaten run in November with a 4-0 away win at Mar Menor. The goals came from Chico Rubio, Domingo and Chiky Ardil (2). Next was a trip to fellow promotion chasers, Algezares UD. MFC went a goal down in the second minute and the first defeat of the season seemed on the cards until substitute Domingo equalised in the 88th minute.

Second placed Aguilas were the visitors to the Estadio Municipal on 11th December and MFC moved above them in the league with a convincing 5-2 victory. David Ardil and his brother Chiky both scored twice with the other being an own goal. However, a trip to SFC Minerva in the final game before Christmas saw MFC’s unbeaten run come to an end in the unlucky 13th game of the season. Minerva took the lead in the sixth minute, but Mazarrón thought they had saved the game when Chiky Ardil equalised in the 86th minute. However, the joy was short lived as Minerva scored the winning goal two minutes later. It had been Mazarrón’s best run in recent history.

Football resumed in the New Year and MFC supporters were wondering whether the bubble had burst. The first game after a three-week break was at home to CD Algar who had moved up to 4th in the league just two points behind Mazarrón. Algar included two former MFC players in their starting line-up, Nono and last season’s Player of the Year, Carlos Ventura. Nono gave the visitors the lead in the 6th minute, but goals from David Ardil and Chiky Ardil put Mazarrón in front at half-time. Carlos Ventura equalised from the penalty spot just after half-time, but central defender Lopez hit a fierce shot home just a minute later to seal the three points for MFC.
Another difficult game followed with a trip to CD Lumbreras who had moved up to 7th in the league with four wins and a draw from their last six matches after a dreadful start to the season. It was a hard-fought game with MFC coming out on top thanks to a goal from Harold and a penalty save by Pablo Lopez. This gave MFC a four-point lead over 3rd placed Aguilas and they were just three points behind leaders Balsicas with seven games remaining. MFC beat Balsicas 4-1 at home earlier in the season so the return game will be a real six-pointer
