Mazarrón FC won their last game of 2021 with a dramatic 4-3 victory at home to Huercal-Overa. This made it three wins, two draws and just one defeat from the last six games, a dramatic improvement on their early season form which had resulted in no wins at all from the first thirteen games.

With form improving since the arrival of new Manager David Bascunana, hopes were high that relegation to the Preferente Autonomica could be achieved. However, the Christmas and New Year festivities seem to have affected the players because they gave one of the worst performances of the season in a 2-0 home defeat to Archena Sports on 9th January. The game saw the return to the Estadio Municipal which had undergone renovation works. The three previous home matches were played at the Complejo Deportivo, all of which were won – the only wins of the season so far!!!

The Manager continued to bring in players to supplement the squad which had been further reduced by the departure of Israel. 24-year-old defender Damian joined from UE Sant Julia in Andorra and 19 year-old striker Juanki came in on loan from FC Cartagena. Mazarrón’s squad is smaller than most of the other teams in the league and for the Archena game they were without five senior players through suspension and injuries.

Mazarrón’s home games are normally played on Sundays with varying kick off times.  Kick off times are not normally known until the Tuesday before the day of the game. Full details of all games, dates and kick off times are advertised in the local media, on our own Los Amigos de Mazarrón FC Facebook pageón2016, and will be shown on posters at various points throughout Camposol and Mazarrón.

Forthcoming fixtures are:-

February 6th REAL MURCIA CF “B” HOME

February 13th Racing Murcia CF Away

February 27th CAP Ciudad de Murcia Away

With the team struggling at the bottom of the league table, it is perhaps not surprising that numbers travelling to away games recently have not justified running a supporter’s coach. One of the main aims of the Los Amigos Constitution is to encourage support for Mazarrón FC at all games, home and away, and the provision of an away supporters’ coach has been important in achieving that aim.

Those who travel to away games when we do not have a coach, do so in convoy leaving from the lower car park opposite Consum supermarket. However, it is sincerely hoped that if results improve members will return in sufficient numbers to justify the viability of running a coach to away games. Coach prices are €10 for Los Amigos members and €12 for non-members and we ask everyone to email to indicate that they wish to travel on the coach well in advance of each away game. Payment can be made at our Thursday meetings.

Another pre-match luncheon has been arranged prior to the home game against Racing Murcia B on Sunday 6th February. The meal with drinks included will be at the Bar Velasco in Mazarrón town and coach transport will be provided to the restaurant from various points around Camposol and back from the football ground after the game. The restaurant is within walking distance of the football ground.

A number of other social events are being considered by the Executive Committee including a trip to the Mini Golf at Golf Delux Los Alcazares when the weather is a little warmer, a pre-match meal and coach to the away game at Caravaca on 17th April and a possible two-night hotel break in Calpe with excursions.

Los Amigos de Mazarrón FC continue to support local charities and a presentation of €100 for the local charity Caritas was made by Executive Committee member Paul Cassidy at the Cultural Centre on 18th December. This is in addition to funds already donated to the Camposol Walking Football Group and the Mazarrón Feminas Football team earlier.
