The final competition for Los Amigos Golf Society in this rather turbulent year was on Monday 7th at Camposol. The competition was the annual Pairs Trophy and was played in memory of those members no longer with us.

The winners of the 2019 competition, Harry Pearson and Dave Pugh, had been in serious training for the event and were eager to maintain their lofty status and win for the second year in succession. Unlike last year, the weather was kind to us and with 26 members taking part, we were all set for a good day on the golf course. (COVID-19 played its part in preventing many members from participating).
The results were as follows:
In first place with a score of 41 points, our congratulations go to:
Roger Olorenshaw and Marshall Shields.
2nd – scoring 40 points were last year’s winners: Harry Pearson and Dave Pugh.
3rd on countback – scoring 38 points were Gary Greenfield and Fred Harvey.

4th also scoring 38 points were: Chris Jowett and Dave Lynch.
Nearest the Pin results:
Hole 3: Terry Rooke.
Hole 5: No winner recorded.
Hole 8: NTP in 2, Marshall Shields.
Hole 11: Dave Wainwright.
Hole 13: Dave Lynch.

The presentation was held on the Golf Club terrace in the late afternoon sun, after which a Raffle was held resulting in a most generous display of prizes being distributed to the winners. Our most grateful thanks go to John Girvan and Marshall Shields for the excellent work they have done in the preparation and running of the Raffle during their period of tenure. They have now retired from organising the Raffle but a big Well Done to them both.
Publication of this report is scheduled for the beginning of January 2021. Hopefully, everyone was able to enjoy the Festive season and here’s hoping for a much better year than its predecessor.
