(pronounced los alcatha-res)

Los Alcazares is located on the shore of the Mar Menor, a natural lagoon in the south-east of the Costa Cálida. The lagoon is salt water and is separated from the Mediterranean by a 22 kilometer long strip of land called La Manga. The golden sandy beaches have been awarded the coveted Blue Flag of excellence and the bars and cafes along the beach front make it a paradise for bathers and water sport enthusiasts. The mineral-rich water of the Mar Menor is revered for its health-giving properties and the town of Los Alcazares still has thermal baths, which have existed since Roman times. The town is well connected to the recently upgraded Spanish motorway network and there are regular flights to and from many European cities from San Javier Airport, which is only a few minutes drive away.
