Hello everyone. I hope you are all keeping safe and well. Things are still changing and by the time you read this we will have been dancing the nights away and socialising with greater numbers of friends.
In this article I would like to ask for some help, tell you about the retirement of our President, introduce our new President and let you know about some of our upcoming trips.
In order to arrange one trip we need to; decide on the location; choose a date; find out how much transport will cost; design posters and get them on display as soon as possible, take full details of everyone who wishes to join us, take payment, give numbered tickets all the while keeping a record of everyone who wishes to join us. That is before we even arrive on the day to start the trip.
Currently there are just 5 committee members who, not only have their own committee ‘duties’ to perform, but now are having to assist with organising trips. We really need more people who would be willing to join us on the committee to help.
Our Chatterbox meeting on the 10th February 2022 incorporated our AGM when we are required to report on our finances and the overall picture of the Group’s activities. However, with the intervention of Covid, needless to say there was not much to report since the last AGM 2 years ago, except that this meeting was our President Chris Lieper’s last official gathering in her role as President of the Chatterbox group. About 13 years ago Chris, together with a couple of friends, met for coffee and a ‘chat’ which us ladies are very good at, and gradually numbers grew and the need for such a ladies group here on Camposol was recognised. We now have 154 members on the books, a number of these are holiday visitors but it’s a huge achievement that the group is still active after all this time. So we want to say a huge thank you to Chris for her vision, commitment and hard work for Chatterbox, fortunately for us, although stepping down – Chris is not leaving us entirely.
Since learning of Chris’ decision to step down from the President’s role, Elaine Stamford, Vice President thought long and hard and agreed to move to the role of President and is hoping that when stepping into Chris’s shoes she can do justice to her new role.
We all wish Chris the very best for future ventures and warmly welcome Elaine as the new President of Chatterbox.
Future trips and events; Chatterbox meeting on 24 March 2022 2pm-4pm at the Social Centre, Camposol B, where a representative from MABS will be telling us all about their amazing work.
Tuesday 19 April 2022 a trip to Alhama Market with lunch at the Tennis Club in Totana
Tuesday 17 May 2022 a fabulous day trip to Gaudelest.
