Friends of Mazarrón Animals would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has volunteered, fostered, donated & attended an event. As a small charity, your support really makes a difference. Not all of our supporters are from Spain. Many people support the group from afar, sharing the animals on Facebook, liking our posts & donating to the animals in need.
This month we would like to say a big thank you to Ellen, who for her 50th birthday, asked friends & family to donate to FMA rather than buy her gifts. By setting up a ‘Just Giving’ page she raised over £700! That will go a long way to help with vet bills for dogs like Jonah that Ellen’s mum June helped transport when he was rescued recently.
Julie & Mark are also using a ‘Just Giving’ page to raise money for the group. They are in training for a marathon cycle ride of 110 miles & asking friends to sponsor them. This is a huge challenge for Julie who only last year required back surgery. We are looking forward to updates of their journey. On your bike!
Last year another of our supporters, Kizzie Marie, took a road trip from her home in Jersey to Mazarrón with a car full of dog & cat paraphernalia to donate to us. She’d spent months fund raising & collecting beds, toys, leads & collars which she packed into her car along with her rescue dog Indie for the 1,800km journey. She even broke down en-route, but mechanical failure did not stop her getting to her destination & a much needed holiday.
We are lucky & very grateful to have this support from those mentioned above & everybody who supports & helps the group. Together we can help change the lives of animals in need.
We have some great events coming up this month. Our Monthly Market in Isla Plana will be held on Saturday 1st June with music by Magenta Slipperz. Lots of handmade items, home cooked goodies, plants to prepare your garden for summer & bargains to be had.
Back by popular demand we have Riverside Blues at Café Buenavista on Saturday 8th June. Entrance is just 5€ on the door or pre-book to avoid disappointment.
The now famous Quiz Night is back at Café Buenavista in El Alamillo on Wednesday 12th June. Book your table & start swotting or you’ll get detention from the hostess who knows all the answers; Karen.
