Friends of Mazarrón Animals would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has volunteered, fostered, donated & attended an event. As a small charity your support really makes a difference.

This month we’d like to share with you the story of Jones the Walkabout Kid.
Jones is rather a celebrity in the local area; the dog that would appear & then disappear as if by magic, he had the whole community on dog watch. He wasn’t hard to spot with his stunning polar bear looks and trailing a post from the chain around his neck. Reports of his whereabouts would spread like wild fire only for him to vanish into thin air when the team were close by. At last he was rescued, but Jones had different ideas & our nomad boy decided this wasn’t the place for him & escaped after just a few days. The community were on dog watch again; sightings coming in from miles apart, sending the rescue team round in circles. Finally he stayed put, being fed by a young family with children, but just as the team got close, Jones decided this was not his time to be rescued & went on walkabout again!
Jones’ fame grew & once again the community were on ‘Jones watch’. More days passed & he was spotted nearby. This time the team got lucky, or maybe Jones had done wandering. Whichever, he is now safe & happy in foster with two other large dogs. Jones was reunited briefly with the young family who fed him during his walkabout days. Our gentle giant is perfect on the lead, good with other dogs & even cats, loves children and enjoys days out to the beach & cafés. His days of wandering are over bar one; a journey to his forever home.
