Friends of Mazarrón Animals would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has volunteered, fostered, donated & attended an event. As a small charity your support really makes a difference.
We know that all our volunteers work hard but the rescue of the Los Puertos pups & finally their Mum was one rescue that was quite an epic tale. Highlighted to their plight by Sonja & Ken who discovered a nursing dog & new-born pups in a den near their house, they started to feed Mum & keep a watchful eye on the little family. Several attempts were made to capture, not just the pups, but their Mum. She proved to be elusive & moved the pups about. It was decided to rescue just the pups, but Mum was never far from the group’s mind. Eventually Mum, now named Beauty, was finally rescued. Already 5 of the pups have been reserved, but we are still looking for forever homes for the remaining 4 pups & of course the beautiful caring Beauty.

The Red Cross Pups
A worse start for 10 innocent puppies could hardly be imagined. They were literally ripped from their mum at just days old & dumped like rubbish in a fruit crate on the busy Red Cross roundabout just past Condado de Alhama resort. Their chances of survival were minimal, but fortunately they were seen by a motorist. Friends of Mazarrón Animals were contacted, but the group is unable to take on this financial responsibility with current commitments, but they couldn’t turn their back on them either.

With support from local people for a fosterer & milk donations, the pups were handed over to Amanda who bottle fed them day & night. This is no mean feat, so a plea went out to other rescue centre & supporters for help feeding these hungry week-old puppies. The pups are now split into smaller groups, but sadly at the time of writing this article, three of the puppies were too weak to survive & passed away. The 7 remaining puppies will be weaned & ready for foster homes to ensure these youngsters have the best chance in life and then they will be needing forever homes.
