In A Medical Emergency Call 112 Then Call FAST On 968 970 626

If you have to call for an ambulance, call 112 and the operator will ask a series of questions so they can prioritise your call. You can ask for an operator to speak in your language if you do not speak Spanish. Then call FAST on 968 970 626

We recently received a thank you letter from a lady who had been bitten by a spider. Here is an abridged version of her letter;

“I was bitten by a spider and my leg was swollen the next day, I went to the hospital in Mazarrón where I was given antibiotics. The next day my leg had deteriorated so I called FAST. Two responders attended and when they saw the severity of it, they called an ambulance to take me to hospital in Cartagena, where I was put on intravenous antibiotics, antihistamine and steroids. The FAST volunteers were very kind, courteous and very professional in their treatment towards me. I was very grateful that such an organisation operates on Camposol. Once again your help was much appreciated when I needed it.”

We appreciate it when people we have attended are pleased with our service.

We have attended over 200 calls for help in 2019 and look forward to being of service to our community for years to come. We are also looking to get more involved with the 112 emergency services this year.

FAST organised a Christmas shopping trip to La Zenia Boulevard which was a great success, with the people getting their Christmas shopping and stopping at Iceland for the last few luxury items on the way home. The Camposol Club de Golf held their Captain’s Drive In and Christmas Competition on 12th December when the Harlequin Rock Choirentertained to a very full clubhouse with a great performance. €315 was raised. Thanks to Stuart and Andy and all those who donated to FAST.

Why not join FAST as a Supporter or Responder? You will meet friendly people and be able to join in social activities which are arranged during the year. If you would like to become a Responder, all training is provided free of charge to the Responder, although it costs about €150 just to register each Responder with the Murcian Health Authority and our awarding body in the UK.

The FAST nurses have been joined by Gladys who appeared overnight. We are very pleased to welcome Gladys to our team. Thank you to whoever allowed Gladys to join us! Sharon and Andy kept her company on one of the Monday’s collection. Oh and thank you to all those who stopped and gave us a donation.

Our training sessions are Tuesday mornings at the Social Centre, Camposol B. We are very pleased to welcome new members to FAST. If you would like to join this great organisation give us a call. You can help your neighbours on Camposol and maybe save a life. It is a great way to give something back to the community.

When the FAST Responders arrive, they will ask a series of questions directed at the casualty or the partner. It may seem to delay treatment, but it is important to know if the casualty is allergic to anything, what medication they are on and are they being treated for a medical condition. Please be patient when the responder is asking questions.

The members of FAST wish you all a Happy and Healthy New Year.
