Veronica and Reina were invited to the Alma Montessori School in Pozo Estrecho to give a talk about what we do at Cavalli Foundation. Every year their pupils design a project to be carried out with a non-profit organisation and this year they have decided they want to work with us. Veronica Campillo, President of Cavalli and Reina Candeal, the Foundation’s Pedagogue and Educational Specialist, have been to Pozo Estrecho to meet the children and to talk about their ideas for the project they have designed, A Chain of Favours. Accompanying them on this mission will be Luna, our canine representative.

Nevado is taking good care of his broiler chickens. They’ve been joined by the 3 oldest geese, 3 big males who came to us as part of a varied rescue operation several years ago. As was expected, Nevado quickly put them in their place and showed them who was the boss – Cock of the Roost! They have visits from a large group of peacocks that come every morning for a social get together. The female geese in the top garden are now busy laying eggs, still outnumbered by males, unfortunately. We are looking for good homes for a couple of male geese if anyone could find a place in their heart to take in a goose or two and look after them well. They are wonderful watchdogs!
We’re happy to say that the horse, Domingo, found a good loving home. He’s gone to a place where he will be loved and well cared for. Another successful rescue was Bobo, found on the RM-603. Veronica took him to Tucan Veterinary Clinic in Alhama where they contacted the owners after scanning his chip. Happily he is now back home with his family.

At last the COVID curfew is over and we are picking up our activities. Our Pony Club has expanded so we find ourselves with a full group on Saturday mornings. During the week we have Cowboy School coinciding with the free days the children have off from normal school. We are also running a Formation Course for Volunteers, financed by Alhama Council. We are halfway through this course of online theory, practical work here at Cavalli Foundation with all the animals. There is a big group doing the course; a total of 15 girls split into 4 smaller working groups, each taking part in our educational activities and our therapeutic work based on animal welfare and well-being.
