Club de Golf Christmas Competition

This took place in December with 63 players competing for the Christmas meat and drink prizes. Thanks to all who have participated in our club events.

The wind was conspicuous by its absence for the first 7 or 8 holes creating good scoring conditions, but eventually the wind did begin to have an influence.

Congratulations to all prize winners. There were lucky draw prizes for those who hadn’t won anything, very kindly donated by one of our lady members who didn’t want her name mentioned.  Thank you, you know who you are!

Thank you to Brian Arnold for doing the scoring and the handicap adjustments. Thanks also to Mark Cole who does a huge amount of the groundwork in helping us put these competitions on.  Mark has regretfully decided to step down from the committee and on behalf of the club owners, other committee members and club members, we would like to thank Mark for his support and work throughout this year.

Keith Halliwell takes over the Captaincy and the committee look forward to working with Keith to continue an active schedule of competitions.

FAST Charity Golf Competition

A beautiful Saturday morning saw 88 players; 22 teams, competing in a Texas Scramble.   This was a fantastic turnout and on behalf of the FAST management committee we thank you all for participating and helping us raise some funds for this great charity who provide an invaluable First Aid Responder Service for our community.

Hole 3 – Des Bunn 1.95m

Hole 5 – Norman Morgan 1.24m

Hole 11 – Billy Prest 1.91m

Hole 13 – Phil Kasey Smith 1.0m

It’s not often we can report the nearest the pin winning distances as all being 1 metre something, so 4 great shots chaps.  Well played!

1^st place and winning the highly coveted FAST Open Trophy with a fantastic score of 57.3 was Steve Haynes, Rich Gale, Phil Kasey Smith, Patrick van de Graaf. (8 birdies and one eagle). We will present the trophy at the end of season presentation dinner in January.

2^nd place – Vron Porter, Clive Porter, Dennis Jones, Colin Reid with 57.8. (9 birdies).

3^rd – Mark Cole, Gary Lovejoy, Degsy, Dave Noakes with 57.9. (9 birdies)

Congratulations to the winning team who eagled their last hole, the par 5, 6^th which just edged out the 2^nd place team who could only ‘birdie’ their last hole, the par 3, 5^th!

The Football Card Winners were Irene Langley and Julia Van den Groenendael. Well done ladies.

We raised a magnificent 1,123€ for FAST. Thank you all for supporting this event.

CGA Men’s Wednesday Group

Wednesday 25^th November was a Pinehurst Pairs played in perfect conditions. The greens are nearly there.

CGA Ladies’ Tuesday Group

The Turkey Trot Competition was on 15^th December, on a cold crisp day with the ladies wrapping up warmly. Layers of clothing were gradually discarded when the sun came out culminating in a warm sunny day. We were given ‘goodie bags’ before the game which was much appreciated.  When we got in we had a Christmas Quiz followed by a delicious Lunch at The Club House.

3^rd – Irene Langley.

The CGA gave the ladies 30€ for their prizes out of funds.

13^th Hole – Alison Vasey. Alison also won the 8^th Hole in 2 shots and the Quiz, so rather a good day for Alison.

New Captain of the Club de Golf, Keith Halliwell, presented the prizes.  The ladies really appreciated the whole day which was superbly organised by Debbie McLaughlin.  The Ladies play every Tuesday morning and their next big Competition followed by a meal will be on 15^th January.

CGA Annual Meeting – 6^th February 2021

Some of the Committee are standing down so perhaps you may think of proposing someone who would be prepared to step into the vacant posts.  It would be appreciated if members turned up to vote on any measures proposed.  The Committee were very disappointed to note last year when only 10 members bothered to turn up to the AGM
