Club de Golf March Competition

Tuesday 23^rd March was the third Club de Golf Stableford Competition of the year and we had an excellent turn-out of 67 players, which is the highest so far this year. The event was sponsored by Golden Leaves, which allowed us to pay prize money to the first 5 players in each division. Despite it being a fine day for golf, the scores were on the low side, with no-one playing to their handicap! 

El martes pasado fue la tercera competición del Club de Golf Stableforddel año y tuvimos una excelente salida de 67 jugadores, que es la más alta en lo que va de año. El evento fue patrocinado por Golden Leaves, lo que nos permitió pagar el dinero del premio a los primeros 5 jugadores de cada división. A pesar de ser un buen día para el golf, las puntuaciones estaban bajo, sin nadie jugando a su hándicap!

We took a moment to remember those golfers who have passed away since the opening of Camposol Golf Club, with special mention being made of Ken Barass who had suffered a heart attack and died the previous Sunday. 

Nos tomamos un momento para recordar a aquellos golfistas que han fallecido desde la apertura del Camposol Golf Club, con mención especial de Ken Barass que había sufrido un infarto y murió el domingo anterior. 

After the competition and before the presentation, I was able to have my Drive-in as Captain 2021 and am grateful for the €50 raised for the Captain’s Charity. Garry Powell kindly donated his winnings to the same cause, bringing the total so far to €100. Thank you to all who supported me.

Mens’ Wednesday Group Comp – 31^st March

Ron Moss Memorial Trophy

This competition has been running annually for almost 17 years; always well supported.  The conditions were quite testing; the last 3 holes once again in to a testing breeze.

Results:

Division 1

With an excellent 36 points and now the holder of Ron Moss Memorial Trophy, congratulations to C Reid

2^nd – D Watts 34 pts

3^rd – N Smith 33 pts.

Division 2 

1^st – C Porter – 33 pts

2^nd – T Hinkley – 31 pts

3^rd – G Davies – 29pts

There were three 2s:

 P Coulstock and C. Reid who scored two 2s.

CGA Men’s Competition’s Secretary

Ron Moss was the CGA’s President and Captain for some time and the trophy has been played for annually.  When Ron stopped playing golf through ill health he presented the trophy to the CGA.  Ron has sadly passed on, but he has left behind a wealth of memories and what better way of remembering him than by playing for his trophy!

CGA Ladies’ Tuesday Group -Tuesday 30^th March 

20 ladies turned out for their Easter Ladies’ Fun Day & Lunch.  Although the day was fine and dry, strong gusty breezes made it a challenge.  The format was Texas Scramble and 5 teams battled for the prizes as well as enjoying a celebration on the 13^th tee with some lovely refreshment provided by Angela in celebration of her birthday.After golf we all sat down to enjoy a delicious meal with wine & cheese & biscuits. Many thanks go to Stuart, Pete and the Golf Club staff for doing us proud.Our Captain, Keith Halliwell came to present the prizes once the cards were all checked by Clive Porter.  Thanks to both of them.
