Golfer Non-Golfer Results
56 people gathered at 2pm on Saturday 1st May and judging from the quantities of sausage rolls, crisps, beer, bubbly and port consumed, it was definitely going to be a social event rather than a serious golfing occasion! The weather turned out to be better than forecast and apart from a strong breeze behind the drive from the first tee, all went smoothly, if a little tipsily for the 9 holes played. After the golf, food was served on the terrace and a good time was had by all. €120 was paid out in prize money and €15 was added to the Captain’s Charity Fund. The scores varied from the extremely low to an average of 8-12 points, but the winners had obviously either practiced or ignored the food and booze during the round, as reflected in their scores.
Overall winners with 17 points – Anne-Marie & Rob.
2nd with 15 points – Mags & Degsy.
3rd after a count-back – Muriel & Irene.
Nearest the Pins on holes 3 and 5 – Brian Tape and Irene Langley.
There are three more competitions to be held during the year on 17th July, 16th October and 18th December. It has been suggested that we play the back 9 on at least one of those dates.
My thanks to all who supported the Club and joined in the fun in the right spirit.
Enjoy your golf and stay safe

Ladies –v- Men Competition – Tuesday 27th April

The CGA Ladies Group accepted a challenge to a match against the Tuesday Tossers’ Men’s Group. It was a fun day and a great competition; refreshed by sausage rolls, pork pies and cava the ladies achieved a resounding win against stiff opposition. They all look forward to defending their trophy soon! The men offered to treat the ladies to lunchtime nibbles but sadly The Club House was unable to supply any food, so it was liquid refreshment only!

CGA Treasurer Retires

After 7 years as Treasurer, Clive Porter is stepping down. As a show of their appreciation for all the hard work he has put in over the years the remaining Committee treated Clive and his wife to a very enjoyable meal at Piccolo’s. Out of funds they bought a suitably engraved memento. Clive was a very diligent Treasurer and will be sorely missed, but Dave Freer has offered his services in this role. We are sure Dave will be an equally impressive Treasurer and the Committee are looking forward to working with him.
Enjoy your golfing.
Take care and stay safe.
