Club de Golf December Competition

The December competition at Camposol Club de Golf took place on the 13th. The Captain’s Drive in took place at 9am from the white tee on the first hole and he achieved an impressive 214 yards (196mtr), which was closely guessed by Bob Evans. With rain reducing the entries from 60 to 40 players it was great to actually get the competition running, although it continued to rain on and off. Despite the inclement weather, the competition was closely contested, with Paqui Martinez the Overall Winner with 37pts and 2nd overall was Pacho Belchi, with 32pts on count back
Men’s Cat 1:

1st Eugene Toye – 32pts on count back
2nd Tony Gleed – 2pts on count back.
Men’s Cat 2:
1st Terry Colvin – 32pts on count back
2nd Des Watts – 32pts on count back.
Ladies’ Cat:
1st Debbie Murray – 30pts
2nd Irene Langley – 26pts
Nearest The Pin Winners:
Hole 3 – Flav Farrugia
Hole 5 – Eddie Harrison
Hole 11 – Dave Stokes
Hole 13 – Pacho Belchi
Well played to all the prize winners and thank you to all the participants and the committee for helping put the event on.

Ladies’ Turkey Trot Competition
This competition was played on 11th December and was followed by an excellent 3 course meal at Cat’s Bar. There was a real party atmosphere and excitement over the Secret Santa Presents. During the meal there was a 20 question Quiz which everyone enjoyed.
The Golf Competition was very close with all the golf winners having 30 points, therefore the places were awarded on count back:
1st Sue Brew
2nd Debbie McLachlan
3rd Mary Armitage
Men’s Turkey Trot Competition
This was played on 19th December; too late for the results to be put in this month’s edition of the Costa Cálida Chronicle. The Competition was followed by the Men’s Christmas Lunch at The Club House.
Camposol Golf Association AGM
This will take place early in February so look out on the Notice Board for the forms asking for you to put your names down for Next Year’s Committee.
Camposol Golf Association Christmas Party
This year’s party was held on 8th December at Hotel Costa and as ever they did us proud with the excellent food and copious bottles of wine or beer. As usual the service was superb. Unfortunately we will not be able to return to this venue next year as the family have decided to close throughout 2019. Although this was upsetting news it did not detract from what turned out to be a great night out for 128 revellers. Rob Sweeney kept the dance floor extremely busy all night. He has a super voice and he kept up a cracking pace all evening.
