February has come and gone and what a beautiful month it was. The gardening team spent the month pruning the palms, yuccas and shrubs on Calle Esparraguera. Also giving the area a tidy up. The end of the month saw the team move down to the Petanque courts at the bottom of Calle Piteras, this was to prepare the area for the first major project of the year in March.

And so to March, and the landscaping project was focused on improving the verges to the front of the Petanque courts down to the footpath (former lower Calle Brencas Sicilia). This took the form of firstly, creating the verge by clearing the area, laying a weed suppressant membrane and topping it with decorative chippings. The work then moved onto clearing weeds from the footpath leading to Calle Salvias, flattening out the surface and installing a number of tables, chairs and benches. This was complemented by planting and tidying up the verges.

The path will link the two calles and provide a refurbished footpath for pedestrians, dog walkers and joggers. At the same time the views from the seating areas to the mountains will be very special – enjoy.

And finally, at this time of year, the gardening day starts every Wednesday from 9.00 until 11.30 am. If you are passing please say hello. The team then has a refreshing cup of tea and a cake. Very welcome after all that hard work. To reword a saying, “Behind every good team is a good woman”, so thank you to Lana for the delicious cakes and Christine for the tea and coffee. Jealous? Come and join the team and find out how good they are.
