During October, the Maintenance Team shovelled away loads of heavy mud, loose stones and sand left after the heavy rainstorms and continued weeding, cleaning and spraying our whole sector. During the more settled autumnal weather of sunny days, cooler nights and dewy mornings it means the weeds grow faster!

Our team were also called upon to clear away car parts and debris left after an accident on the dual carriageway – one of our planters and a lamp-post were severely damaged. These incidents are becoming more frequent, so if you witness anything like this please call the police and note the vehicle number; thanks.

We welcome back Sue and Ken to our Wednesday group of volunteers, who have been carrying out the usual extensive weeding, watering, dead-heading and planting up collected plants donated by residents. Yet more overgrown palms, trees and shrubs have been trimmed and 65 yuccas were planted along the bank of the newly excavated drainage ditch at the bottom of the cliff on Calle Ibiscum. This strenuous work is always rewarded with a free breakfast! If you would like to join our group of Wednesday volunteers, either regularly or occasionally, please contact us, or just turn up at the Welcome Wall at 9am – Help improve your area even more and make new friends in the process!

The area is looking really great after the efforts of those hard workers. We love donations of shrubs/plants which have outgrown their space in your gardens and will happily come to collect and plant them in a position where they can grow on for all to enjoy, or they can be left behind the Welcome Wall.
