This month we are proud to say our Maintenance Scheme is 7 years old! We are sure the homeowners on ‘C’ Sector North agree it has made a huge difference to their streets. The roads and pavements are regularly sprayed and swept, potholes repaired, verges are gravelled and planted, green skips are available for all our garden waste and all dustbins off the roads. It really is lovely to walk around a tidy area which is not neglected or overgrown, but it has taken many hours each week of real backbreaking work by our Team. This would not continue without each loyal Member. If you haven’t considered joining, we ask you to please get in touch. The small amount of 15€ per quarter (equivalent to a cup of coffee each week!) means the benefit to our area is huge. We’d also like to ask yet again; if you have a pet, please clear up after it and keep our area pleasant and poo free! Thank you.
Green Fingers’ hard work continues on into 2019. During a month of dampness and extremely cold temperatures, our volunteers completed pruning all the palms, drainage channels were cleared, the Welcome Wall has been painted, 6 tons of gravel was spread to replace that washed away by the heavy rains, more plants were put in and the wooden benches have been sanded and varnished. Ballast and cement has been delivered to repair the deep potholes, but this work cannot begin until the unusually hard frosts have all disappeared as the cement will not set properly.
Huge thanks to all our volunteers for coming to give us a hand! If our workers are in your area, please support us. Spare cash in our bucket or hot drinks are much appreciated! We are always looking for volunteers. Even if you’re not resident here all the time and just holiday now and then, you’re most welcome: We offer free bacon sarnies every Wednesday morning as an incentive! Please contact Graham, our Chairman, on 604 253 604. If you’re unable to offer physical work but would like to donate raffle prizes or plants, we’d also love to hear from you. No offer is too small!
