Happy days at The Sanctuary! The donkeys are so content here. They have space, they’re grazing, exploring and more! I can see over the few months some of them have been here a positive difference in their wellbeing and mine too. It melts my heart when I know they are so happy and healthy. Our dream is being realised and we are desperate to be able to show you all our gorgeous donkey haven and hope by the end of the year to be able to welcome you to our little piece of paradise. Paperwork, paperwork it all takes so much time, but we want it to be right.
Patience! Not my forte, but I am determined not to get stressed over it!!
All males are castrated now, except little Enero, but he’s only 4 months old so too young. With the warmer weather there is more risk of infection and flies, so we try and save castrations for the cooler months. If they are not castrated we have to separate them from the rest of the herd and handling them is more difficult. Look at some of the pictures on our Andreas Animal Rescue and The Henrietta Foundation page and you will see what I mean about how happy they are.
Our little boy Joe the Jack Russell with a horrible gaping wound to his neck having been thrown from a van is doing really well. His stiches have been removed and he is ready to be rehomed. He is very sociable, has a calm nature and walks well on the lead. He is now castrated and is looking for that very inviting lap to have cuddles on!
We also welcomed another abandoned puppy full of everything creepy and crawly. He was found in the Campo and is only about 8 weeks old, but he has the sweetest disposition. He has a home already in Scotland with a family who have another rescue from AAR so a ready-made family for him. I love a happy story.
Our Sponsorship Scheme is going from strength to strength
For a minimum of £10/10€ per month you can sponsor a donkey, pony, dog, rabbit, or any of our residents. This would help with their running costs so much.

As usual I will be on Camposol B Car Park from 11.30am-1.30pm on Mondays to collect any unwanted clothes, furniture, bric-a-brac, books, CD’s, jewellery etc. I usually have one or two companions with me. We also welcome donations at our shops in Roldan and Mazarrón Town from 10.30am-1.30pm.
