It’s December; that time of year that is so special and magical. We normally have our Annual Meet The Donkeys morning on or about the 17th December, but we will have to cancel this year due to this flipping COVID pandemic, unless restrictions are lifted beforehand. We will update Facebook nearer the date.
What have we been doing this past month? Luckily our shops have remained open, (phew!!!!), so we are still selling and accepting donations. Lockdown or no lockdown, our work continues. Last month saw three ponies from the perrera in Murcia and a female donkey from Lorca; all needing a safe place. Of course they came to AAR. Isabel the donkey’s case was quite complicated and we’ve waited around a month for her release. Finally we got the all clear to collect her, so thank you to all concerned in her case. They are all now settling in well. We will update on our Facebook page info about the ponies and Isabel.
The Sanctuary
We are moving very slowly with the sanctuary. Unfortunately time and money is the key. We just need more; lol!
The donkeys have settled in well. They are so calm and they haven’t told me they don’t like it!! It really is the most beautiful place and so quiet and peaceful. We certainly found a little gem when we were pointed in the right direction. We are still waiting for the permissions to be granted for the construction of the stables; quite a few things have had to be changed!! It’s a learning curve, but we won’t give up! Red tape – ufffffff – there must be miles of it round our applications.
I would like to say a huge thankyou to all of you who support AAR throughout the year. With nearly 90 donkeys, we appreciate it so, so much and so do the donkeys.
Also massive thanks go to our wonderful volunteers. You ladies are the best and keep the wheels of AAR turning. Much love to you all.
