Some very exciting news! We Have The Power!! The Santuary was fitted with solar power last month, which is a massive step forward for us. Next month there will be an update on how it is going, but the signs are looking good.

How we love these lighter nights! It means we can get so much more done without having to squeeze everything in during the short winter hours. 90 donkeys and around 35 dogs and other furry friends take an awful lot of looking after, which we love to do, but it is much nicer not to have to be rushed before it gets dark.
Two of our ponies had some pamper care and they look adorable, all clean, groomed, and fluffy. Flash and Spirit were the chosen two and it was nothing less than poor Flash deserved as he had been through a bit of a trauma. What we thought was a dental problem, possibly requiring the removal of a tooth, turned into an operation as he had a calcified stone in his salivary gland which had to be removed. It is wonderful what the vets can actually do on-site and even though it sounds like an unpleasant procedure, it was us that were more traumatised by it, not him!

Both our babies are doing well, but it is a massive tie as they need feeding every few hours, so wherever we are, one of us has to get back! Enero had a little bit of a setback, (his mother had rejected him) with a bad case of diarrhoea. We took him to hospital where he was monitored and put on a drip for the electrolytes he needed to rehydrate him and within 24 hours was showing good signs of improvement so we were able to bring him home.

Our Sponsorship Scheme is proving extremely popular and is a great way of contributing to the upkeep of the donkeys, keeping in touch with what is going on and having your own special rescue with updates. For a minimum of £6/6€ a month you will receive a welcome pack, details of your special friend with a history of its rescue, Christmas/birthday cards and invitations to any special events we may have. It doesn’t have to be a donkey or pony; it could be a dog or rabbit or another furry friend under the care of AAR. You can pay monthly or yearly, which could make a lovely gift. Either message me on AAR Facebook page or WhatsApp 690 906 565 and Gill our sponsorship lady will be in touch with you.
Shop Volunteers
We only ask 4 hours a week which would enable us to open again on Saturdays. No experience is necessary and we are a friendly bunch. All the animals would love to welcome you on board!
If any of you men out there are willing to lend a bit of muscle, we have an area in our Mazarrón shop that needs sorting and any help would be greatly received.
Camposol B Car Park Collections
