Welcome Group March 2008 |
On Wednesday 16 January at Mariano's we had our yearly Fun Games Night. 90 people came along and joined in playing Beetle Drive, Prize Bingo, Quiz & Raffle. Prizes were given out to all the winners.
We will be bringing some new faces to provide first class entertainment at our monthly dances. This started with our Valentine's Night Dance. Angie, Maria, Degs & Andy provided first class entertainment with a Rock & Roll Show with tributes to Buddy Holly, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Lulu & Supremes. The evening finished with a 45 minute singing spot with the very popular Kay C. Our longest married couple on the night were Barrie & Sheila Neal who have been married for 52 years; they received a bottle of bubbly and a meal voucher. Thanks to our mystery admirer who left a red rose and a card for us both on the table - we think we know who you are!! On 12 March we have a great duo called Time Warp who appear nightly in Benidorm covering popular sounds of the 50´s, 60´s to the present day. Joining Time Warp will be B J Stevens who this year will not be doing his Elvis Tribute but covering songs from many of the popular male singers. Disco music and light supper will complete the evening at a cost of 14€.
At 11 April Cabaret/Dance Night we will be welcoming a lovely guy called Alan Wallace who lives down in the Costa del Sol. Alan goes back to the U.K. most months covering many big events and has a great track record even providing the entertainment at Princess Ann's Wedding Reception. With Alan on this evening will be the outrageous and ever popular Eddie Wallace. Making up the first class entertainment on the evening will be the lovely Kinnie Lee along with disco sounds provided by Terry. The evening will include a light supper of corned beef pie & chips all for the great value of 14€.
We have been listening to many people and everyone is down on their monthly pensions etc. because the euro rate is so low. We have decided to do some of our monthly dances without the light supper hence a cheaper ticket price but still keeping the first class entertainment. This will start with the May Dance with tickets going on sale at our 1 March Meeting for the brilliant Abba Tribute by Abba Elite which will be on Monday 12 May. Also on the night we have the very popular Sunset and a young lady called Christina who appears nightly in Benidorm with her Cher Tribute. Mark will cover popular disco sounds on the night and the tickets will be priced at 10€.

Money raised this year through the Welcome Group will be donated to MABS and Contra Cancer Clinic in Murcia, who allow us to continue our cancer screening programme. For information on this, please contact Maureen (618 254 143).
Book/Jigsaw Swap dates for March are 4th & 18th. This takes place fortnightly on a Tuesday and there is no charge. Please contact Jo 630 351 509 or Rosemary on 620 105 179.
Our next Meeting will be Saturday 5 April where tickets will be on sale for the popular Ladies' Day on 4 June and for the men's laser shooting afternoon on the same day.
