Welcome Group June 2008 |
The Treasure Hunt which took place on Sunday 27 April was a great success with 82 people taking in the local scenery & visiting places they had never been before, especially the grave-yard in Tallante!! Our thanks to Jim & Paul for organising the event, helpers during the afternoon, the staff at Tallante church hall for making us feel very welcome and Gill & Chris´ Pantry for providing a superb buffet as always. The winners by 1 point were the Wazucks (Les, Di, Terry & Kath) & in second place winning on the tie breaker question were the B Side on the C Side (Bryan, Geraldine, Brian & Janet).
At our 12 May Dance we were delighted to welcome back the lovely Lucinda who had come over from the UK to perform for us. Lucinda soon had the dance floor packed and proved what a very popular young lady she is. Lucinda will be back with us for the 29 September Dance. Also providing first class entertainment were Sunset who provided great dance music. The last part of the evening was the Abba Tribute performed by Abba Elite with a stunning performance. Den on keyboard and Ray on guitar showed what brilliant musicians they are and certainly had everyone not only dancing but singing along. Mark Ellwood provided disco sounds in between and at 12.30am the dance floor was still packed. This was the first dance with no food and certainly proved tremendous value for 10€.
Line dancing times have now been altered to the following:
Mondays: 5.30 - 7pm - Beginners Class Only;
Thursdays: 5.30 to 6.30pm for Absolute Beginners & 6.30 - 8pm Improvers/Intermediates.

Tickets on sale at the moment are for the yearly Petanca Competition which is taking place on Wednesday 25 June. Tickets are 8€ (Non-members) & 6€ (Members). Trophy and prizes to play for and food supplied. Even if you haven't played before it is a fun afternoon out. We also have on sale the 21 July Dance, outside at the pool area, Mariano's Restaurant with the very popular Beagles and introducing the lovely Kate Axten plus disco sounds with Ken and Champagne Sounds. Tickets are 7€ (no food).
At a packed May meeting we took names for the popular Autumn trip to Benidorm which this year is on 10 to 12 November staying at the prestigious Hotel Melia (4*). The cost is 118€ which includes 3 days (2 nights) half board plus a morning excursion out (optional). As we had such a great response to this we are now taking 2 coaches and we only have 5 rooms left (15/5). At the moment we are just taking names and deposits so that we can secure the rooms at such a very good price. If you are interested in either of these trips, please contact Rosemary 620 105 179.
At our next meeting, which will be Saturday 7 June, 2pm at Mariano's Restaurant, tickets will be on sale for 1 September Dance (outside at pool area) seeing the return of the very popular Ricky Powell, plus the lovely Kinnie Lee and disco sounds with Terry.
