I am writing this in mid August and it seems so hot and humid - don't get me wrong - I am not complaining - give me July and August in Spain over January and February in the UK !!! But is it hotter and more humid than other years or is it just that I am getting to the grumpy old man stage in life?
Lots of visitors, lots of outside eating and social engagements, lots of swimming - no I ain't the grumpy old man - yet!
Well TV news and of course the big story is the closure of all the micromesh systems from North of Alicante to South of La Manga including Camposol. Now by the time you read these things may well have changed and maybe the systems will be back on air but I doubt it. We have been predicting this day for years and all you mesh system users have had it good and cheap for years. If not technically wrong; it was morally wrong - none of your subscriptions went to the provider of the programmes and owner of the satellite system - SKY. It all went to line some very fat pockets who put nothing back into television - it had to stop and it seems as if it has. It may be back with some agreement between SKY, the Spanish government, and the 'mesh' operators, but it is not going to be 20€ a month - SKY will want their subscription and 'mesh' theirs - 60€ a month?
But then why should SKY when they can get the money directly from you. That's what happens all over the UK - there is still the dish size issue but that can be resolved.
The bill going through the EU "radio and TV without frontiers" should open the broadcasting skies to us all.
Remember that to watch any "cardless" channel - all the BBC, all the ITV, all the FOURS, NEWS, RADIO, TRAVEL, DATING, GOD etc etc is NOT in anyway illegal. Technically watching any carded programme, ie SKY packs, is illegal, but you are not going to get stopped and fined!
