I am writing this on July 14th and its absolutely tipping it down with thunder and lightning! A welcome relief from the intense heat of this June/July but it is that "muddy" rain - so loads of clearing up when it's over - but the garden and weeds are drinking it up. Our latest dog to wander into the household (he kept jumping in over the fence whilst the other two are attempting to jump out) is Hector the pointer-type hound who is hiding and shaking at the thunder - what a great hunting dog - but then I expect that's why we got him !
Quite a lot of news this month, so going to keep each item short - if anything is of interest to you then contact us - email good - and we will give you more details.
We now have a good supply of FREESAT boxes and have made many installations -no complaints and all good feedback from clients. Apart from the Channel 4 family of programmes all the transmissions are the same as for the SKY system so dish sizes remain the same. The Channel 4 signals are stronger and anyone having trouble with 4 can call us to add the new 4 to any SKY digibox and reception should be much better. Many new channels are scheduled to join FREESAT before the end of the year, but surprisingly Virgin 1 and Dave have committed. HD (high definition) moves on and I still don't feel it's worth the extra 10 quid SKY demand although a few HD channels are on FREESAT. However SKY have committed 10 million to new HD dramas to be shown on SKY 1 in 2009 and Eurosport have gone HD on SKY 412 which showed the Tour de France and will show the Beijing Olympics in HD.
UKTV has renamed its channels and changes will start in October 2008. UKTVGold+1 becomes Watch, UKTVDrama becomes Alibi and UKTV GOLD becomes GOLD (go on laugh daily!)
With a recession on the horizon I wondered if SKY would have the nerve to increase prices when I found a list of forthcoming prices squirreled away on the SKY site. From September 1st any of the "pack" prices go up a pound and with sport, two pounds. Surprisingly the Movie mix is not going up - SKY you feeling OK?
Just a green snippet - we are all moving to LCD flat screens - were you aware that to manufacture them a gas - nitrogen triflouride - is used and it is 17,000 times more effective at global warming than carbon dioxide! Since LCD screens became popular the production of the gas has gone from almost nil to 4000 tonnes - there is more to being green than meets the eye!!!
Our 1.45 dish upgrade programme is still moving along with all clients being pleased with the result. If you are having any viewing problems call us to discuss.
