Straight Down The Middle Golf Society
Venue: Condado de Alhama Golf Course on July 24th
It was a beautiful day with a nice breeze. The course was in great condition with grass much greener than anticipated at this time of year. According to one of the marshals, the course was recently remodelled so expectations were high.
There were 16 players on the day. The keener members visited the practise area to get rid of a few cobwebs before start of play. Geoff Sharp had new SDTMS shirts to distribute among members which prompted a few new orders. On the matter of dress; there was a wide variety of coloured shorts being worn on the day. It was suggested we all wore the same colour in future – one for the committee I think.
The scoring format was Stableford Full Handicaps. The Overall Winner with a score of 36 points was Roy Turner, closely followed by Peter Smithson on 34 and Dave Hemmings on 34.
Nearest the Pin on the 7th was won by Ian Stewart and the 17th was won by Steve Carter.
This course is always a challenge and was a pleasure to play, plus the greens were in great condition. After some liquid refreshment in the clubhouse the prize giving commenced.
The next golf match will have been held at Lorca Golf Course on August 28th, followed by Camposol Golf Course on September 25th. We are always pleased to welcome guests so don’t hesitate to get your friends along to play.
