On 25th July, members and guests visited the Camposol Club de Golf for the monthly society meeting. On a seriously warm morning players set off with a spring in their step and plenty of water in the buggy to keep them hydrated.
It wasn’t long though before reports of all sorts of madness came through with golfers striking palm trees and landing on the green when they should have been out of bounds.
On hole number 5 an eagle was recorded by Ian Stewart and to top it all Terry (Barnes Wallace) Haggerty made it across the lake on 18 with a double bounce on the water, a very heavy strike on the wall opposite and finished in the middle of the fairway.
This madness all came to an end at the 19th when cards were checked and in tied third place were Ian Stewart & Clive Hathaway with 32 points. In tied second place were Ian Dalley & Norrie Bull with 33 points.
The winner however with a score of 39 points, was Paul Bartlett (pictured). Paul is very close to becoming a single figure handicapper according to the handicap secretary.
The Nearest the Pin winner was Norrie Bull on hole 5, but no-one got near on hole 13.
The September meeting will be at Altorreal on the 26th. First tee at 10.30am. Please let the secretary know if you wish to play.
