At this time of year the society gathers twice a month, as many members return to the UK for the Christmas period and we like to keep the numbers up.
The first gathering was at Aguilon Golf on 24th November, for the inaugural meeting of the Dave Robinson Trophy, who sadly passed away last year and is remembered in the playing of this cup. The day started brightly, but soon clouded over with a stiff northerly wind, which made it uncomfortable when waiting on the tees. The course, as always, was in superb condition and is a great test for even the low handicappers.
In the 19th, all cards were checked and in 3rd place with a score of 29 points was John Charlesworth.
In 2nd place with a sore of 32 points.
The Overall Winner of the trophy was Melvyn Appleby (pictured) with a score of 34 points.
The Nearest the Pin Winners were George Bricknal and Terry Haggerty.
The second meeting was held at Camposol Club de Golf on 7th December. The management and staff at this course must be complimented on the way the course improves and many members found the greens a real test of putting skills. It was good to see the water hazards all filled up again.
The members had to follow an earlier starting society and on several occasions a wait on the greens did not help temperaments. Despite all, when we gathered on the terrace at the end of a good round in sunny conditions, the cards were checked and the overall winner was declared as Joe Chalk (pictured) with a score of 32 points.
In 2nd place was John Taylor with 28 points and 3rd was a tie between Clive Hathaway, and Mike Harrison with 26 points.
Nearest the Pin Winners were Tony Rootes and Mike Harrison.
