The Passing of Time
Unlike last month where we started under heavy skies, this month’s meeting at Aguilon Golf was so much better with cloudless blue skies to set us off.
The only problem was that as the day wore on the wind increased in strength and by the time we had reached half way round it had become quite hard to handle with balls being blown off course.
The Handicap Secretary in an effort to keep his ball low and under the wind beheaded one of the small tee markers in the shape of a sparrow. He even tried to claim this hole as a “birdie”!
Once all of the cards were returned it was found that two members, Clive Fowler, and Les Bryant (pictured) were tied on 33 points.
As per the new ruling where we do not count back, it was declared as a tie. Each player will receive a trophy at the February Presentation Dinner.
Norrie Bull came next on 29 points, with Paul Allsop, and Geoff Sharp next on 28points.
The Nearest the Pin Winner was Tony Rootes.
The numbers are swelling for 6th February Presentation Dinner, so if you haven’t got your tickets yet, you had better hurry as time is short.
It is with great sadness that I have to report the passing of Dave Robinson, who died suddenly the day before our game at Aguilon.
A man who loved his golf and always played with a smile, he will be sadly missed by all. The game at Aguilon was played in his memory.
The committee would like to wish all members and their families a Very Happy & Prosperous New Year
