The Port of Mazarrón will celebrate its Patron Saint festivities of San José from March 16 to 25. Patricio Sánchez, Councillor of Celebrations, presented the programme of some festivities in which the gastronomy of the event “Pura Plaza” and the Ruta de la Tapa takes centre stage

“Pura Plaza” will take place from March 17 to 19 in the Plaza de Abastos of Puerto de Mazarrón, where five establishments will offer their best tapas for the public to enjoy, alongside performances of musical groups. The details of this event will be presented next week, according to the Councillor, who has indicated that he has opted to bring to Puerto de Mazarrón the format of an event like gAstrogAllo, which has been so well received since its inception

The Ruta de la Tapa takes place between 16th and 25th and sees a total of 16 establishments offering their best appetizers in a new edition of the Ruta de la Tapa de Puerto de Mazarrón. The participating premises must offer a single tapa that can be presented hot or cold, served preferably at the bar, during the opening hours of the premises. The price of the tapa with a beer, wine or soft drink will be 2.50 euros

The participating venues will be: Bar La Cofradía, Bar Morales, Café Bar La Vuelta, Cafetería La Sal, Casa Milán Magaña, Cervecería Ángel, Gallo Verde, Mesón La Tasca del Fini, Nueva Bodeguita, Restaurante Avenida, Restaurante Espigón, Restaurante Mamma Mía, Restaurante Cervecería D’Tapas, Restaurante Sagitario, Tapería La Perra Chica and Restaurante Viggos.

As in previous occasions, Festejos will prepare a “passport” where customers can request the stamp of the establishments where they have consumed the tapa. These “passports” will be available to the general public in the Department of Celebrations and participating establishments. Customers will vote in each passport the best tapa of the route. The tapa most voted for will receive a recognition by the City Council. In addition, customers with a certain number of stamps will enter the draw for at least one prize. Only one stamp can be obtained per establishment. The draw will be held on March 25. These passports must be delivered at the Tourist Office of Puerto de Mazarrón before 1pm on 25 March

The programming of the Fiestas de San José 2018 includes sports activities that will attract the attention of the public that stroll through Puerto de Mazarrón during these dates, especially on Saturday March 24 and Sunday March 25 with the Spanish FlySki Championship taking place

On Sunday, March 25, there will also be a National Football Tournament 3 for children from 6 to 11 years old in the Plaza de las Comunidades Autónomas del Paseo Marítimo, a sports event that will have its final in Benidorm in June

The Festivities of San José de Puerto de Mazarrón will also include tourist routes, cultural visits, children’s activities, 2×1 fair in El Rihuete and the traditional Mass in honour of San José on March 19. The religious ceremony will be accompanied by the Choir “Asociación Arte Lírica XXI”. After the mass, sees the procession with the image of the Patron of Mazarrón.

The day before, on Saturday March 18, on the beach of Puerto de Mazarrón fireworks can be enjoyed around midnight
