DIARRHOEA - Usually caused by your pet having/experiencing digestive problems or digesting rotten substances (especially caused by the heat/sun, increasing the amount of bacteria). For example during their daily walks, they might consume droppings of food, rabbits etc found in the campo or even their regular daily food left in their food bowls gathering bacteria by the minute. Take your pet to the vets immediately as he/she will need treatment.

LACK OF APPETITE - Most pets prefer to eat less when the weather is very warm, similar to humans really, so do not worry if they eat very little but please check that they drink plenty and regularly change their drinking water.

LETHARGY - Heat reduces animals' energy levels, so you may find that they are not keen for their regular daily walks. Obviously the best time to go is very early in the morning and late in the evening, when it is much cooler.

SUN STROKE - Symptoms include excessive panting, balance affected, vomiting, excessive drooling, high temperature (you can try and reduce their temperature by applying wet towels around their body) and in extreme cases they can lose consciousness. If your pet has the above symptoms take him/her to the vets as soon as possible.

STINGS/BITES - Pets often try to catch flying insects and sometimes they succeed. If they have been stung or bitten the facial area will swell up and there is a danger that their airway will collapse, so please check their breathing. Take your pet to the vets even if they just have swelling as they will need anti-inflammatory/antihistamine treatment.
