PALS

The Ayuntamiento at Mazarrón have now confirmed that the 9 mobile defibrillators presented to them last year by PALS are now all in use having been located in various emergency vehicles controlled by the Protection Civil (Tel 112) and that 10 people have sufficient training and are authorised to use this essential life saving devices. A further 12 trainees are undergoing tuition within the framework of the existing Murcian laws. It was originally anticipated that at least two of the defibs would be permanently sited on Camposol and we are reassured that a defibrillator will be located at the new Health Centre when it's built. In the meanwhile we at PALS will attempt to find permanent homes with authorised personnel on Camposol.

Now that the question of the defibs is solved we have asked the Protection Civil for a wish list in order that we may continue our programme of providing auxiliary life saving equipment in and around the Mazarrón area. You may rest assured that your donations and support are in good hands and we have accounts available for public inspection and hope to announce early our strategy for spending through the rest of 2008. In order to continue our activities we rely on you the public, to attend our events and functions and we hope you will note that through July, August and September we are holding our monthly Rock and Roll nights around the pool at Mariano's. A shopping trip to Benidorm on the 23rd July and tickets for these can be purchased from Sheila on 968 138 823. We have a Halloween night at Siena Restaurant for 20? per head and the annual Christmas dance on December 7th for 27.50? is already attracting attention. For these last two events we are prepared because of the impact of currency exchange to take stage payments (beforehand of course)

By the way currently we are holding 14000? in a separate bank account earmarked to supplement the needs of the Health Centre on Camposol; this reflects the high percentage of support we get from residents on that Urbanisation. We are not funding the build or initial equipment and the money will be used to purchase specific items of a life saving nature supplementary to that supplied by SMS or the Town Hall.

CAFÉ NEWS
PALS are jointly responsible for maintaining a legal bank account on behalf of CAFÉ (Community Ambulance Fund España) which aims to raise sufficient money for an ambulance with staff funded by the Ayuntamiento, to be based north of Mazarrón (hopefully on the Camposol health centre site). Two recent events at Rumours and the Steak Out have swollen the funds even more and there will be a count up of collection tin money this week and the running total announced in the next issue of the Costa Cálida Chronicle.

We are amazed at the high level of input by various businesses, clubs associations and entertainers and indeed individuals to further this community effort, which leads onto a specific announcement. CAFÉ CONCERT TWO is now confirmed by Costa Cálida International Radio (who are the sponsors) to take place on 4th October at the Playa Grande Hotel from about 2pm. Bands and entertainers, music only, should contact Robbie France at the Station and we are looking for prizes for the raffle and items to auction please contact me (Ken Payne tel 626460465). Last year the amount raised at the concert was extraordinary and we aim to beat that by a large margin. Tickets will shortly be on sale at a very modest price and the 500 people who attended last year were amazed at the quality and diversity of our local talent so we anticipate a high demand and are encouraging early reservations.

It is worth recording that PALS due to their constitution rules cannot and have not held any event specifically for CAFÉ and act as guardians of the money and as a conduit to the various authorities involved in raising funds for this worthwhile cause.
