July has been a busy month for the PALS folk. We had our annual Summer Ball at the Costa Costa Hotel and everybody had a real ‘Ball’. The Beagles provided their usual excellent music and gave an unrehearsed version of the Eagles ‘Peaceful Easy Feeling’ following a request and it was as good as the real thing.
At the end of the month we held a beach barbeque at Bolnuevo in the evening of the 29th and we have decided to make this an annual event and may even try to sneak another one in September. At the last moment we had a hic-cup as new laws came into effect banning such events on beaches throughout Murcia, but so good is our relationship with the Ayuntamiento that special dispensation was allowed from the Alcaldes office, for which we are grateful.
We would welcome new members and ideas and hope that you will not only support our efforts by attending the events but also by giving us a hand.
PALS are the area’s premier registered charity and we raise money for the local emergency services and provide them with additional medical equipment. All our accounts are open for inspection and all our proceeds go through rigorous financial checks. We are currently putting 40% of our net receipts towards any extra equipment required when the Camposol Health Centre is constructed. We are also, in conjunction with the Lions, spearheading the funding of a new Emergency rapid response ambulance to be based in the Camposol area under the acronym CAFÉ: Camposol Ambulance Fund España. Please give generously.
