Sunday 17th September – Free Walk to Caravaca from Basilica-Sanctuary visiting various churches and historic buildings. 11.15am

Open through to 1st December 2017: a Renaissance Art Exhibition entitled ‘Signum’ is staged at the Antigua Iglesia de la Compania de Jesus, the former church in the old city centre. Dating from the 15th and 16th centuries, there are some spectacular works of art on display.

Saturday 2nd – September heralds Fiestas in honour of the Virgen de las Maravillas and begins with an opening speech in Sala Camelot by Ana Carrasco, a professional rider from Cehegin; celebration of “Huertanos day” (Orchards); and procession of the Virgin.

Friday 8th to 14th – a full programme of entertainment including concerts, children’s activities, exhibitions, dancing, bullfights, 3rd edition of the tapas tour ‘cehegineando’, bands festival, religious ceremonies and more than 100 private rented marquees in ‘Recinto Ferial’. Don’t miss the Free Festibando by Azúcar Moreno, Celtas Cortos, King África, Natalia, Wichy de Maya, Moy Gomar, Ana Mena, Sofía Mateos, Manu García, and more, scheduled for the 12th. Check with the tourist office website for specific event dates/times.

Saturday 16th – Explore The History And Heritage of the Old Quarter on a tour which visits the Archaeological Museum, Main Street, the Church of La Concepción and the Casa Jaspe. After this you can also visit the school of wine in the Palacio de la Tercia. The tour is in Spanish (there are info boards in English on many buildings), lasts approx. 2 hours and you should wear comfy walking shoes. Meet 11.30am.

The Archaeological See of Begastri is opened for tours on Saturdays and Sundays at 10.10am, 11.15am and 12.20pm. 2€ per person. The tour begins with a video presentation followed by a guided tour to see the remains of the Iberian culture before the IV century BC.
The Eco Park (Tourism Activity Park) ‘Coto de las Maravillas’ has activities for all the family with a choice of paintballing, horse riding, an assault course, a Quidditch pitch as well as much more for all ages. There is also a campsite within the park and refreshments are available in the bar. The park is open throughout each weekend.
