Saturday 6th October – Guided Visit at 5pm to the Casa-Museo Don Pepe for 5€ – contact the museum for more info and to reserve your place.
Sunday 7th October – Start the day at 10am with a Promotional Wine Tour ‘The first mosto of the grape harvest’ which comprises a visit to the Casa-Museo Don Pepe, breakfast, wine-tasting, visit the Artisan Market, see a display of grape-treading and sampling of Mosto. If you prefer a later start, at midday for only 5€, you can just enjoy a visit to the Casa-Museo Don Pepe; pre-register at the Museo del Vino.
Sunday 7th October – El Zacatin Artisan Market open from 9am-2pm in the central squares of Plazas Vieja and Castillo and Calle San Anton. The market often coincides with a free guided route to reveal modernist Bullas c. 1900. The tour is in Spanish but guides do speak some English and the route is highly visual. Tickets available from the tourist info point set-up in the market place 15 mins before each tour: 11am/12pm & 1pm.
Thursday 11th October – English language Wine Tour with pick-ups in Los Alcazares and Torre Pacheco by minibus return. Visits the Valle del Aceniche at peak harvest time at a small, family-run winery and includes tapas lunch, wine tastings, wine museum and guided tour. Price 50€ pp 9.30am-5.30pm. Photography Exhibition by Tomy Ceballos on show at the Cloisters of the Convento del Carmen in La Glorieta until 12th October; entitled ‘Oceanos Pacificos’.
The culture trail continues with a prominent Sculptor Exhibition tracing 500 years of religious mysticism through works of art presented at the former church of the Compania de Jesus. The renowned sculptor Francisco Salzillo exhibits his restored figure of the Virgen del Carmen, and Santiago Ydanez displays an impressive 14-metre canvas painting; examples of a major collection of works until 6th January 2019.
Check out the Carlos Blanco Fadol Museum of Ethnic Instruments in the village of Barranda, in Calle Pedrera, clearly signposted and with easy access for those with mobility issues. Space limits the display to 5% of his 4,000-piece collection yet still conveys a fascinating variety and history of musical instruments. 3€ (2€ disc/ 1€ children). Saturday 27th October – Explore the wealth of history on view on a Guided Tour which includes the archaeological museum and the Begastri archaeological site at 11.15am. The tour is in Spanish but is highly visual with some info in English; 2€ pp and wear comfy walking shoes. Pre-register at Tourist Office.
The Archaeological See of Begastri is open for tours on Saturdays and Sundays at 10.10am/11.15am/12.20pm. 2€ pp.
The Eco Park (Tourism Activity Park) ‘Coto de las Maravillas’ has activities for all the family and all ages, including zip lines, archery, nature walks and many other organised outdoor activities. Sunday 7th October – Artisan Market welcomes you between 10am and 2pm, set in Las 4 Plazas in the centre of the Old Quarter (usually on a Saturday). Browse through local produce, craft goods made from esparto grass, ceramics and antique artefacts. It’s advisable to park by the Glorieta and walk up to the market. Check online for date and timings.
An art exhibition entitled “La Jungla De Asfalto” by Andres Garcia Mellado runs at the Convento de San Francisco until 29th October. It is open every day except on Tuesdays, between 10am and 2pm.

Friday 5th/Saturday 6th October – Tricicle, renowned mime humour group, will perform twelve of their classic sketches and highly visual gags. Famed for their participation in the 1992 Summer Olympics closing ceremony in Barcelona, their gestural humour does not require knowledge of Spanish. 9pm on 5th and 7pm and 9.30pm on 6th. Tickets 15€-35€.
Wednesday 10th October – Violinist Joaquin Pall Palomares and the OSRM under the baton of resident conductor Virginia Martinez. 8pm. Tickets 8€/11€/13€.
Friday 12th October – Marisa Valle Roso, the northern Spain songstress from Asturias, performs a variety of numbers from varying artistes. 9.30pm. Tickets 12€.
Sunday 14th October – One for the family at lunchtime – fun and music as Clown, Lolo Fernandez performs ‘Concerto for Clown and Orchestra’ with the OSRM. 11.15am when performers explain about their daily lives and about the music to be performed, followed by the concert at midday. Tickets 10€.
Saturday 20th October – The Spanish-French singer-songwriter, Soledad Gimenez Munoz, accompanied by pianist Pepe Rivero. Formerly heading the popular group, Presuntos Implicados, she has performed solo since 2006. 9.30pm. Tickets 20€.
Friday 26th October – As part of the annual “Semana Grande de Cajamurcia”, La Luz Oscura is a performance by the raconteur or ‘jongleur’, El Brujo (the Wizard), contemplates the life of John of the Cross, a Carmelite priest and significant leader of the Spanish counter-reformation whose poetry is considered among the finest of Spain. The show (in Spanish) starts at 9pm. Tickets 24€.
Saturday 27th October – The humour continues with the untold story of Ben Hur (in Spanish), a production of comedy gags and outrageous dialogue. 9pm. Tickets 24€.
Wednesday 31st October – The traditional All Souls’ Night favourite, Don Juan Tenorio by Jose Zorrilla: the more romantic of two versions, written in 1844, graces the stage. 9pm. Tickets 12€.
Several cycles of musical events are held at the Murcia Auditorio throughout the year. For only 36€ you can enjoy six fun musical events for the family; one per month on a Sunday at midday starting on 14th October.
