Busy Days for Mazarrón Bowls Club
At the beginning of October the away game for the President’s Cup was played against Indalo, a team from Almeria.
It was a closely fought game, but unfortunately this time, MBC were unsuccessful in their bid to bring the trophy home. This match gave the opportunity for many of their new members to participate in their first ‘serious’ game and they all did MBC proud. A very convivial Menu del Dia was enjoyed by all at a local restaurant afterwards.
October also brought the start of the Annual Autumn Triples League with 12 teams competing for the trophy. The first match on 11th October got off to a flying start with beautiful hot and sunny weather, however by 13th October the game was rained off!! Autumn is definitely on its way!
Paul and Diane Rossi very kindly opened their Casa in Tallante for a BBQ and Quiz on 9th October. Over 40 people attended and although it was a slightly cloudier day, the sudden heavy downpour early evening did not stop the teams trying to solve the Quiz, which was maybe a little hard! The winners were Mandy and Brian Wright, Barbara Benton and Mandy’s Mum.
Brian Robertson won his way through to the finals of the Valencian Championships at San Luis on 8th October. Many MBC members had travelled to support Brian, but even that could not help him win against Frank Close from Emerald Isle.
This month we have the annual Ladies v Gents match and the Mazarron Trophy which is played in a 3-2-1 format.
MBC look forward to welcoming any new people that wish to try the game of bowls or established players wishing to take up the game in Spain. All are welcome at Thursday roll-up days, 10am for a 10.30am start.
