The Season is Well Underway
MBC Club Championships are now in progress. The first rounds need to be completed by December 8th and the quarter finals by 19th January to see who continues in the competition to become 2020 champion.
Winter Triples League
This started on November 12th. There are eight teams: Badly Drawn Team, Bahamas, Tottey Crisps & Co, 233, Al’s Diary, ABH, Brexiteers and Dou Gooders. The first game was a windy day with Tottey Crisps & Co, Bahamas, ABH and Brexiteers all winning their games. See what happens on a calm day! Next month’s report will have the halfway results as the league finishes on 21st January.
The LLB Southern League
MBC are fighting hard against the big clubs around Torrevieja in the top division of this league. We are collecting points although rather slowly! Six teams of three players form a Club Squad. The squad scoring is given in points; two for each team win; one for a draw and two for the squad with the most cumulative shots overall, giving a total of maximum 14 points for each match. Our game at home against El Rancho was only four shots short of winning the two points for most shots!! During that game, one of our teams, Sylvia Logue, Frank Quinton and Brian Carter, scored an official ‘Hotshot’! All nine woods bowled by the team in one end counted against no reply from the opposition. This unusual and brilliant achievement, lifted the spirits of the entire squad.
MBC at the Costa Calida Chronicle Trade Exhibition
It was a busy and rewarding day for MBC on November 9th. Some members, wearing MBC team colours, were on hand to chat about our club and the activities we hold throughout the year. The club displayed the Trophy for winning the 2019 2nd Division LLB Southern League and the LLB Ladies Pairs Champion of Champions 2019 Cup. Also shown on the stand was the MABS Trophy which is played for within our club on a yearly basis; MABS being MBC’s chosen charity. Show goers were encouraged to go down to the Rink-side at Hacienda where they were greeted by more members to have a go at bowling. A good time was had by all and hopefully we will be welcoming back those show goers who said they enjoyed the opportunity to try their hand at the sport of lawn bowls.
MBC will be pleased to welcome both new and experienced bowlers to come on a Tuesday or Thursday to the Club’s roll up starting at 10am. Colin Appleton on 605 492 937 would be happy to talk to you about MBC and to answer any queries.
Mazarron Bowls Club members would like to wish all readers a Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year.
