Christmas is a coming….!!
The days may be getting shorter, but that is not stopping the intrepid bowlers from Mazarrón Bowls Club driving up the coast twice a week to compete in the Alicante Leagues.

MBC play in two winter Leagues: Division A in the LLB Southern League and the Voyager Division of the South Alicante League. Competition is extremely stiff in both these Leagues, but especially in the LLB League where Mazarrón Miners are competing against players from the Spanish National Squad. However, it’s a very different story in the South Alicante League where the Mazarrón Mariners are currently 2nd in the results table and only 1 point behind the leaders.

The Autumn Triples League Competition is progressing well and the Club Championships have begun in earnest with all the first rounds completed. There have been some surprising upsets this year with the new members that only started in the summer doing extremely well.

On 20th November an ‘in house’ match was played in a 3 – 2 – 1 format. This comprises 3 people in a team with one person playing the singles element of the game for 6 ends, then the other two play pairs for six ends and finally all three members of the team play triples for 8 ends. The winning team for each segment gets a bonus of 3 points. At the time this article was written the game had not been played.

MBC will finish of their successful year of bowls with a Christmas Party at Bar Med on 8th December.

MBC look forward to welcoming any new people that wish to try the game of bowls or established players wishing to take up the game in Spain. All are welcome at Thursday roll-up days, 10am for a 10.30am start.
