Phew! Has it been hot! That can only mean hot for our animals as well, but they seem to know what to do and where to lie for optimum coolness. Plenty of shade and fresh water are good basics and obviously the usual reminders – no cars and watch the sand and pavements – HOT!
This little fella wasn’t eating. In fact nothing was moving anywhere and this was found to be caused by an intestinal blockage. He needed an operation, so good old Paco sorted him out. He has now been home for a couple of weeks and he is making a full recovery.
If you find yourself with an unexpected bill, please get a written quote from Clinica Veterinaria in Puerto de Mazarron. Drop it into the shop where it will go before the committee. We try to pay at least half. The voucher you will be given is valid for one month. If you go beyond a month you will have to reapply. A photo and short description of your request would be welcome as we like to feature a pet in the Costa Cálida Chronicle each month.
If you have items of any sort or size we will welcome them; laundered clothes, shoes with some life in them or bric-a-brac. Richard will be at our collection point on Camposol B lower car park near Consum from 10am-12pm on Tuesdays with the van. If you are without transport or have items you can’t manage, just contact him and arrange for collection.
Our shop is situated on Calle San Juan, which is past Mercadona and Lidl, turn left at Consum and we are third on the left opposite a small park. Call in and browse our furniture and lots of beds. You could see something you really don’t need!!!
We have to put our usual appeal out for some help. We are struggling at the moment for volunteers, so it’s crucial we get more. We open Tuesday to Saturday for three hours each day, so please consider a couple of hours with us as we are determined to carry on with our work. We help so many people and it’s very worthwhile and satisfying. We are not front-line rescuers, so lucky for us we don’t see anything heart-breaking; just a sense of ‘helping’. You won’t be expected to take animals home as we only get to see them when their grateful owners bring them to us to say thank you.
