We are now into the last month of the year and it has been 6 months since the re-structuring of the charity.

The shop in Puerto de Mazarrón has been very successful and despite being in a residential area, has proved to be popular with easy parking facilities. We thank all our supporters for the continued flow of donations to enable us to provide much-needed aid to the families we help. We would also like to thank all the volunteers who have given their time and effort during the past 6 months to build up and further develop this charity and the shop.

We are working closely with the Social Services department in Mazarrón, with whom we have a good working relationship. We are now working to help those who really need our help.

We have recently been able to help a family with medicine purchase.  Despite having the normal reduction allowed within the Spanish system, it was just beyond their means to purchase the vital medicine needed. This is a very much needed aid to the majority of families we help.

We were able to help a couple who couldn’t afford to even get to a hospital appointment and a young family who have had to go to Social Services for help.  There is always a short fall of approximately 3 weeks before they obtain regular food aid from the local food aid charities, so we are able to step in and help these families with immediate aid.

We are also concentrating on providing eye-testing and possible purchase of glasses where needed. Javier, the director of Social Services, expressed his gratitude to us for the development of our Well Child/Family Programme and for helping those less fortunate than ourselves in a way that would benefit them the most. The dental and hearing programme will also come on stream in due course.

We are preparing for our Christmas Party at The Club House, Camposol C on 22nd December.  There are still have a few tickets left for this event. The price is 16€ and includes a 4 course Carvery Buffet and Rock and Roll evening with entertainment provided by Martin Ross, our Treasurer.  There will be a raffle with some nice festive goodies. Tickets can be purchased at the shop or call Martin on 630 854 072 or Christine on 603 764 742. Please come and join us and help us raise some much-needed funds and enjoy a great evening of food and entertainment for this festive season.

Our van will continue to be present on Tuesdays from 11am-1pm on Camposol A.  Unfortunately our van had to go for some repairs last month and we apologise if any of our supporters were inconvenienced at this time.
