There are very few people these days that can say their lives have not been touched by Cancer in some way, whether it is a partner, parent, child, sibling, other family, a friend or indeed their own experience. Most of us have felt the devastating effects Cancer can have on both the sufferer and their nearest and dearest.
Cancer is cruel, unforgiving and non-discriminatory. It doesn’t care what race, religion or age you are and it doesn’t care what else is going on in your life or what your financial situation is. It can and will affect anyone at any time.
The philosophy of MABS Cancer Support Foundation is that Cancer doesn’t discriminate and neither do we. The Foundation has been helping and supporting people of all nationalities and all walks of life here in Spain for 20 years now. We have helped a great many people in that time and with your support we can continue to help many more.
We raise funds through our shops and events organised by our hardworking fundraising teams. Your local MABS Shop is located in Totana where we sell furniture, clothes and bric-a-brac. All donations are gratefully accepted and can be made either at the shop or at our drop-off points at Alley Palais, Camposol Golf Club or our Respite Centre on Avenida de las Covachos, Camposol B. We can also collect larger items in our van and this can be arranged by calling 634 313 478.
Can you spare a few hours a week?

Last year we opened our first Respite Centre, situated on Camposol in Mazarrón to cover the needs of patients in the Mazarrón, San Javier and Calasparra regions. This has been hugely successful and has filled a real need in the communities. We were looking forward to celebrating the first anniversary of its opening in April with an Afternoon Tea in the gardens, but due to inclement weather it had be postponed at the eleventh hour and was eventually held on 14th July when everyone thoroughly enjoyed bellinis, tea and sandwiches, homemade cakes and scones, all made and served by our hardworking volunteers. A fantastic sum of 804.50€ was raised on the day and huge thanks goes to everyone who helped and supported the event.
We have many fundraising activities going on in the next few months. Check out our Facebook page for more information on these.
Our next big fundraising event is our Masked Ball at Camposol Golf Club on 19th October. A cava reception, 3 course meal and entertainment from the superb Darren Jones plus a raffle and prize for the best mask; all for just 25€. Tickets are available from the MABS Respite Centre or call Zue on 689 052 123.
