At the Volunteers’ Meeting on Wednesday 1st March at Roda Civic Centre Janet opened the meeting and welcomed those attending.
Items of 200€ or more will be delivered free to any destination.
Van Drivers’ hours must be recorded and checked against the expense sheets.
Electrical testing will be done by Ian Nash and there is a book in the shop for him to log them out.
Summer clothes and swimwear are needed for the Fashion Show on 25th April.
John is working on job descriptions for all personnel. He is looking at the roles on the care side as well.
It is very important for volunteers to fill in the rota sheet and stick to the agreed shop hours.
John has completed the Volunteer Policy.
Angela is in the process of checking all driver licences and insurance. New drivers need to go to the Care Centre for photo-copies of licences and insurance taken.
The redesigned Website should be completed by the middle of April.
Beverley gave a run down on the end of year figures. Although expenditure was slightly more than budgeted for, this was because of the move to the new premises.
We are having to close the Centre one day a week as we are so short of volunteers. Beverley said that there is no problem using agency nurses if they are needed. Penny enquired about the situation of other MABS Centres in Costa Blanca North and South. Beverley explained the difference between Murcia and the Costa Blanca area and clarified that there was no branch in Torrevieja. It would be ideal to have a branch as there are a large number of expatriates living close to the border of the two areas. However, it is not possible at this present time, but definitely something for the future.
Drivers and Volunteers
Angela reported that there are times when patients require chemotherapy and need to travel to hospital every day for six weeks. With the shortage of drivers she is looking for three drivers to do one day each per week.
Roisin gave a break-down of the 30 calls received.
