Charity No 7261 As we approach the festive season the Cancer Support Group (MABS) Mazarrón would like to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported them throughout 2007. Your support and generosity has helped the group make a positive difference to many local cancer sufferers and their families. Your help and support is greatly appreciated.
2007 has seen some fantastic achievements none more so than the group being able to purchase a car for the sole purpose of transporting cancer patients to and from hospital; your efforts to help us raise the money were amazing. We’ve had race nights, heads shaven, handicrafts, boot sales, book sales and cake making to name but a few, all of which has enabled us to help our patients and their families through these difficult times.
The ‘Race for Life’ was another success story with more than 120 runners and walkers making their way round Camposol and raising a fantastic 11,000 euros. Our grateful thanks to Marion for her dedication and hard work in making the race a great success.
More recently we held the MABS Christmas Fayre, which was another resounding success raising over 2000 euros.
Next year promises to be even more exciting with the unveiling of our new Chairman, additional fundraisers, new training and support for our volunteers and much more.........watch this space!!
Our support line will be open throughout the Christmas period for anyone who requires assistance or support.
Volunteers are always needed so if you have a few hours to spare each week and would like to get involved with a local group helping local people, then come along to our next meeting on January 29th at the Pizza Trevi, Camposol 10.00am or give us call on 620 582 418
That only leaves me to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year, see you in 2008.
I would like to thank the stallholders and members of the public who attended the Christmas Fayre at Mariano’s Restaurant on Saturday 24th November 2007. Thanks also extended to all the volunteers without whose contributions the event could not be staged. In excess of 600 people attended and the total sum raised was 2,133 euros. Unfortunately the event was tainted by the unsavoury elements within our community who were responsible for the theft of a purse, a handbag and 2 items of clothing from a stallholder. Once again many thanks to all those who contributed and hopefully we will see you all at next year’s events.
