The hot summer weather stayed with us into October, but it was full steam ahead for Los Palacios Group. We continued street cleaning, weed spraying, palm and pine tree pruning and ensuring the parks were clean and tidy. It’s great to see residents living close to the parks, pruning plants and trees and keeping the parks and landscaped areas looking so well. It also means our volunteers can be deployed to other projects on Los Palacios. Remember, we are always looking for more volunteers and even one hour of your time each week is a great help. Contact me or any volunteer on how you can help your local community gardening group.
Currently the Palm Troopers are clearing the triangle at the junction of Calles Cuidades Espanoles & Jerez de la Frontera as it has become overgrown and some of the trees have died and fallen. It will probably take a few weeks to get it in order.
The Parque Memoria is being prepared for the Remembrance Day Service and the team are working hard laying stones on the Garden of Remembrance and sand around the big cross. Please see the attached notification for details of the special day.
A big thank you to Silvana who, as promised, got the relevant parties to clear the gardening waste that was accumulating at the green bins on Calle Andalucia. It had become a bit of an eyesore, but thankfully it’s now back to normal!
